Extra info, More genre research and New pitch
Hi blog! Its been a minute! Today I'm going to be talking about and going over extra info for my short film. As well as extra research that I ended up doing!
Over the past few weeks I've had some changes in my project. I'm no longer working with the same group of people due to differing opinions. I was thinking about finding a new group to do my project with but ultimately decided not to. I felt like there wasn't enough time for me to figure out who I would work with and what our film would look like so t make it less complicated I decided to just work by myself. I know in one of my planning blogs from earlier I said that it was nice to not have to work by myself but I'm planning on making it work and working with what I have. As for my new genre..., I've made a switch to horror instead of comedy! I know a lot of people do horror as their genre because its an interesting genre as well as common. I'm planning on Having a little spin on my film.
It will start at a dance studio, in the studio will be a ballerina. She's working on a variation from a new dance she's been practicing that she cant seem to get right. Getting frustrated she starts to doubt herself and slip up. Then something weird starts happening around the studio, stuff like lights flickering and music starting by itself. Thinking it is a glitch she goes back to dancing but she just gets less confident and starts to lose herself in her dancing, but not in a good way. She doesn't know it yet but a monster is coming to get her, to take her away and try and replace her.
I wanted the monster to symbolize her self doubt and how harmful it is to not only to herself but also how she dances. The need to be perfect consumes her every thought and the self doubt that she's kept deep down piling up is finally coming to get her.
I personally like this genre way more and I feel like the story really matches how a lot of ballet dancers including myself can feel.
That's all for this blog! I hope you enjoyed the new pitch and I'll see you next time!
